Review of Apple iPod Classic (7th Generation)

Although there have been many other brands of MP3 player, the Apple iPod Classic was the only one that got people using the brand name as a general description for the type of device! Now into its 7th generation, what kind of features can you expect from this famous and popular gadget?

Pros Of The Apple iPod Classic

There's no denying that the iPod has become a style accessory, whether you like it or not. When you buy the Apple iPod Classic you'll be getting the classic look of the gadget along with those unmistakable white earphones. The sleek design also means that it can easily fit in your jacket pocket for when you're out and about.

The iPod is also intuitive and easy to use. Most of us who haven't owned an iPod before have at least used one belonging to a friend. We almost know instinctively how to use that slider wheel to get the songs playing without minutes of charging it up out of the box!

The capacity of the 7th generation Classic iPod is unbeatable, and you'll find it very difficult to fill up the whole 160GB with music alone! Good thing that the iPod also allows you to watch movies on the go, then! It also has a longer battery life than any previous generation, which can only be a good thing.

Cons Of The Apple iPod Classic

It goes without saying that the Apple iPod Classic does not come with as many features as the more expensive iPod Touch. The latter is meant to be a multifunctional device, allowing for games, apps and Wi-Fi access. The former is all about the music, and watching movies, and some people like it that way.

It's useful to have such a wide range of storage sizes to choose from, which the former iPod generations used to offer. Not everyone needs the huge storage capacities that the more expensive classic models have on offer, so it did help to save you money if you were willing to put up with the lower capacities. Unfortunately the new version of the iPod Classic only comes in a 160GB storage size. While this is excellent for holding all your music, it does mean there are no cheaper price options to choose from.

Lastly, you can't run an iPod without also having to run iTunes. Other MP3 players work like an external hard drive, letting you drag and drop files over to the device. The iPod, on the other hand, runs exclusively on iTunes which can be a little clunky to use on Windows.

Conclusion

There's no denying that, years after its initial release, the iPod is still a must have gadget and features in the lives of a huge number of people around the world. There are rivals, but none who have such a (well-deserved) reputation as the Apple iPod.
